Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants. Vitamins A, C and E help you fight the aging process from within. These antioxidants neutralize the free radicals that damage your skin, aging it faster than it should.The state of your skin signals to you what nutrients you may be short of. When skin is dull, you might be lacking in essential amino acids. Fish, meat and eggs contain essential amino acids. If you are a vegan, then you must be extra careful to make sure you balance your diet properly. Combine beans, pulses and nuts to make sure you get the full range of essential amino acids.
If you have acne, or your skin is rough and dry, you might be short of beta-carotene. Eat some carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes and other foods that are rich in beta-carotene.
If your skin is scaly and flaky and you have dry, cracking lips, you might be short of Vitamin B. Spirulina is an excellent source of vitamin B and many other nutrients. Eggs, bananas and nuts contain vitamin B too.
If your skin bruises easily and takes ages to heal, you might be short of vitamin C. Oranges, lemons, rosehips all contain vitamin C.

If you are anaemic and there are dark rings under your eyes, you may be short of iron. Beef. Leafy green vegetables are rich in iron.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a skin that is too oily is sign of a body that is too yang. Acne is treated with cooling or yin foods. Watermelon, cucumbers, mint are all cooling. Wrinkles and very dry skin could do with more yang. More warming foods. Cherries are very warm. So is beef.Well balanced diet
